Police has refreshed its approach to recruiting communicators and other key service delivery roles, with a new strategic partner and a new website to provide information to potential candidates on the roles and the application process.­­

The strategic partnership is with Hudson Recruitment - the largest privately owned talent management and recruitment business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new website is, which presents a fresh face to people interested in taking up key roles in Police’s Communication Centres in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and Digital Service Centre in Kapiti.

“We know one of the biggest drivers of trust and confidence is when people get good quality service from us, and at the heart of good quality service is getting the right people in our service delivery roles.

The roles covered are Emergency Communicators, Non-Emergency Communicators (Crime Reporting Line), File Management Support Officers and Customer Services Advisers (Digital). These will involve more than 200 new hires every year.

Hudson will provide an end-to-end service, from advertising of roles through to offers of jobs.

Its selection process has been designed by organisational psychologists to ensure the successful candidates bring the skills, behaviours, aptitude and motivation to stay and thrive to support the centres’ high-performing mindset.

The selection process employs latest online testing tools and technology such as live video interviewing to ease demands on candidates’ time and travel issues. The process will also bring a significant reduction in demand on Police resources.
