Traffic management is being put in place on Wainuiomata Road, Wainuiomata, following a crash earlier this evening.
The two car crash was reported to Police at 6.35pm.
One person has been transported to hospital in a critical condition.
The road will be closed between Queen Street and Reading Street, to allow the Serious Crash Unit to undertake an examination.
Motorists are asked to take alternative routes.
