Police in Christchurch are investigating an alleged aggravated robbery at the Ferry Tavern in Ferrymead on Friday 11th October.
At about 9:30pm, two men entered the bar and spent some time in the pokies area. They then put clothing over their heads and faces and approached the victim who was behind the bar. The male in the black hoodie produced a large kitchen knife and demanded cash. The men were unsuccessful in getting any money so they walked away from the bar into the toilet area.
The guy in the red hoodie reappears in the bar and looks as though he is going to leave while the guy in the black hoodie then reapproached the victim behind the bar and assaulted him, while still demanding money. The man took a bottle of bourbon before a struggle ensued with the victim. The knife was mere centimetres away from the victim’s face during the scuffle.
Both males then ran toward the exit with the victim not far behind them, and just as the male in the black hoodie was walking out the door, he threatened the victim again with the knife. The men ran off toward Settlers Crescent.
The victim was traumatised as a result of this incident and he was lucky to escape without injury.
These men were very distinctive and Christchurch Police know someone is going to know who they are.
