Police in Hamilton are investigating the alleged aggravated robbery of The Dinsdale Office and The Yardhouse Bar and they believe the robberies may be linked.

At about 9:15pm on Sunday 12 May, two men entered the Dinsdale Office as three staff members were closing up. The males have ordered the victims around and dragged one staff member across the floor. One of the suspects has tried to gain access to the office and demanded staff members open the tills. Both men have left on foot towards Tuhikaramea Road.

At about 12:30am on Saturday 1 June, two heavily disguised men have entered the Yardhouse Bar from the rear door. They ordered staff and patrons to the ground and forced the manager into the office at gunpoint and forced her to open the safe. The gunman has told the manager that she would be shot if she did not open the safe. Both men have left on foot toward Durham Street.

The first male in the Yardhouse Bar robbery was described as:

  • Approx 172cm / 5’7”
  • Solid build
  • Wearing black clothing and carrying a cut down firearm.

The second male Yardhouse Bar robbery was described as:

  • Approx 166cm / 5’5”
  • Slim build
  • Wearing black clothing and black gloves with grey and orange fingertips.

Both of these males appear to have rubbed up against bushes before the second robbery and may have returned home with yellow leaves on their clothing.

The victims in the robberies have been traumatised so if you can help with either of these cases, please contact Hamilton Police.
