Police in Auckland are investigating a serious hit and run crash on the Harbour Bridge on Tuesday 5th February.

At about 5:25am, there were three lanes open on the bridge that were travelling north. The victims’ vehicle was travelling in lane two and a second car in lane three. Suddenly the car in the third lane veered into the path of the victims’ car, causing it to careen out of control, hitting the barrier and flipping on to one side. The car that was in lane three has continued on north over the bridge without stopping.

The victims were both seriously injured in the crash.

The vehicle is described as a silver or light coloured 4WD with roof rails and possible sunroof. It could possibly be an older model Toyota Land Cruiser, similar to the one pictured.

Police are urging the driver to come forward or anyone that may have noticed damaged to the left side of a vehicle similar to the one seen in the CCTV.

Anyone else with information is urged to contact Auckland Motorways Police.
