Police in Papakura are investigating two aggravated robberies at the Counties Inn Liquor Store on Paerata Road, Pukekohe on Saturday 15th June and Thursday 27th June.

The first incident occurred at about 3pm on the 15th, when a male jogged into the store, went behind the counter and grabbed a bottle straight away and threatened the shopkeeper. The male told the shopkeeper to open the till and when the shopkeeper declined to, he swung the bottle hitting the shopkeeper in the stomach. When asked by the male again, the shopkeeper opened the till, the male grabbed cash, as well as a second bottle and ran out of the store. He was last seen running down Kayes Road.

The male was described as:

  • Māori / Pacific Islander
  • Medium build
  • Approx 176cm / 5’9”
  • Distinctive facial hair

The second incident occurred at about 11:30am on the 27th. A male ran into the store and brandished a knife from his right sleeve before threatening the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper tried to escape and after seeing an opening, he ran into the office and locked himself inside. The knifeman, tried to open the till but was unsuccessful. He then tried to open the office door but was also unsuccessful. He went back to the till and took the shopkeeper’s wallet before running out of the store. He too was last seen running down Kayes Road.

The male was described as:

  • Māori / Pacific Islander
  • 173-177cm / 5’8”- 5’9”
  • Medium build
  • His face was covered by a black bandana

Papakura Police urge anyone that know or may have seen these males to get in contact.
