Police in Counties Manukau are investigating an alleged Mangere home invasion and rape that occurred in February.

At around 4am on Sunday 16th February, a CCTV camera filmed a man trying to break into a vehicle outside the victim’s home on Bader Drive.

Due to the timing and location, police believe the same man entered the house through a window a few minutes later and allegedly raped the victim at knife point while her young son slept next to her.

The intruder then forced the victim into her car and tried to leave the property with her. As the vehicle was boxed-in by another family member’s car, the alleged intruder demanded she retrieve the keys to move it. The victim took this opportunity to exit the vehicle and scream for help. This forced the alleged attacker from the property where he was seen heading towards Idlewild Ave. A short time later a male matching the intruder’s description was seen running down Caravelle Close.

The victim describes her alleged attacker as Pacific Islander, between 25 and 40 years old, 180cm / 5’11”, of average build. He was wearing light blue jeans, brown work boots, a black hoodie and had a low deep voice. The victim described him as smelling of alcohol and male perfume.

This is a brutal home invasion and sexual assault that has traumatised the victim so Police urge anyone who may have information to contact Counties Manukau Police.
