Police in Christchurch are investigating a hit and run incident in Phillipstown in early July.

At about 7:10pm on Saturday 11th July, David Tata was crossing Marlborough Street in Phillipstown when he was struck by a vehicle which then failed to stop and ascertain injuries. The vehicle continued down Marlborough Street and was last seen turning into Clive Street.

Police enquires have confirmed CCTV footage of a late model Audi that was turning onto Aldwins Road from Ferry Road a few minutes before the hit and run. As the driver was in the area, they may have valuable information and are urged to come forward to speak to police.

As a result of being struck, David suffered serious lacerations to his head, various grazes about his body and a non-life-threatening neck fracture. He’s now on the long road to recovery.

If you know of a dark coloured vehicle that has sustained damage to the front of the bonnet around early July, or have any information that could help, please contact Christchurch Police.
