Police in Counties Manukau are investigating the alleged aggravated robberies of Super Liquor and Gold Liquor Store in Papakura, that Police believe are linked.

At around 2:50pm on Wednesday, 16th of September, a male entered the Super Liquor on Elliot Street. This male brandished a tyre iron and threatened the store worker behind the counter. The victim managed to run to safety in the back room. Having been unsuccessful, the suspect fled the store and walked into Papakura CBD.

Police have obtained CCTV of the suspect walking throughout Papakura immediately following the attempted robbery. A male wearing the same clothing from the Super Liquor attempted robbery reappeared on O’Shannessey Street at around 4:30PM shortly before another aggravated robbery took place at the Gold Liquor Store. The suspect again brandishes a tyre iron at the victim behind the counter and threatens them.

As the suspect took cash from the register, the victim ran out of the store and unsuccessfully tried to trap the suspect inside. The suspect headed south down O’Shannessey Street where police lost track of his movements.

As police have tracked the suspect through Papakura, they believe it’s the same person who carried out both robberies and police need your help identify the man.
