Case 3: Crime of the Week - Queen St Serious Assault, Auckland

Police in Auckland are investigating a serious assault in the Auckland CBD during the early hours of Saturday, 1st August.

At about 1:00AM, on the corner of Queen Street and Vulcan Lane, the victim and his friends had got into an argument with another group. The victim has tried to calm the situation but one of the males has punched him to the ground. The victim manged to get back up, however, a second male approached the victim from the side and punched him again, this time rendering him unconscious. The victim never had a chance to defend himself and as he fell, has hit the back of his head hard against the concrete. 

CCTV obtained by the police has identified two suspects that police would like to speak with.

The first male who assaulted the victim is described as:

  • Male
  • Mid 20s
  • Light complexion
  • Facial hair
  • Was wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket, and brown pants.

The second male who assaulted the victim is described as:

  • Male
  • Dark complexion
  • Was wearing a black baseball cap, white jeans, and a white t-shirt.

The victim received two fractures to his jaw, and even a month on from the assault, still can’t chew solid food.
However, things could have been much worse, and the victim is lucky to be alive.
