Police are investigating the homicide of 28 year old Kimleang Youn, who was allegedly thrown from a moving vehicle in Māngere, Auckland on 28th April 2021.

A silver Toyota Alphard was seen driving down Gadsby Road, then turning down Robertson Road where witnesses saw a man being thrown from the van into a bus stop, before continuing along Robertson Road without stopping.

Kimleang was taken to hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries three weeks later.

Police have been able to identify the van involved, but now need to know who was in it at the time of the incident.

CCTV from around three hours later at the BP station on Fanshawe Street, Auckland CBD, at around 11.46pm was obtained as a result of enquires and Police need to speak to the people who were in the van at the time, as they may have valuable information.

The footage shows three people in the van. A male is seen getting out of the back sliding door, paying for the petrol and heading back to the van. The driver is also seen putting petrol in the van, his clothing and manner of walking is visible. Police believe someone will know who these males are.

The van has since been recovered and is under forensic examination.

Witnesses have described seeing some young people in the bus stop who were using their phones at the time, possibly filming videos, and police are interested to know what they saw, and what they filmed because it could be crucial to the investigation.

Kimleang was much loved by his family and friends and he will be sorely missed.
