Police in Hamilton are investigating a robbery at a dairy on River Road, Chartwell on Saturday 13th February.

Around 11:53am, the dairy worker victim had just finished serving another customer and was ringing up the till for the female next in line. As she has finished doing so the female has pretended to reach for money before making a beeline for the cigarette cupboard. The victim has been shoved aside by the suspect but was able to activate the fog cannon button causing the female to run out of the store with several packets of cigarettes.

The suspect was seen on CCTV running across the road and hopping into a dark coloured vehicle which was already running with a driver and passenger. The vehicle then drove down Donny Ave before u-turning back towards River Road.

The suspect is described as:

  • Female Pacific Islander or Māori
  • Wearing a distinctive t-shirt with “95” on the front and sleeves and carrying a blue Nike backpack

The getaway vehicle was described as a dark coloured Honda Odyssey, possibly a 2007 model.

The victim and her husband have been a part of the local community for many years and are hardworking honest people. This unnecessary incident has left the victim extremely upset and has traumatised the husband.

There have been similar previous incidents and the local community are fed up with the store being hit. Police encourage anyone who may know something to come forward, as it may provide a link to solving this case.
