On Thursday 26 of May at 5:56pm, victim Raymond was crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing on Broadway and Celia Street in Stratford when a dark coloured ute travelling south hit him. Raymond flew into the air and skidded for several metres. A witness saw the ute stop for about 25 seconds before leaving the scene without the driver ascertaining Raymond’s injuries.

Police need your help to find a dark coloured late model ute with no canopy, a high back end and damage to the front.

Raymond suffered two badly broken legs, dislocated shoulders, had his teeth knocked out and received a head injury. Witnesses stayed with Raymond and helped to keep him calm while waiting for the ambulance.

CCTV footage has captured a ute matching the description approximately 10 minutes after the accident in Eltham. While police are not saying this is the vehicle involved they would like to speak with the owner.

If you were the driver involved, you must know you’ve hit someone. We encourage you to speak with police now.

Perhaps you know of a dark coloured ute that has damage to the front as it has been brought to you for repairs, or you have been told another reason for the damage by a family member or friend.
