One month ago, 28 year old Sean Buis was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Eglinton Road in Dunedin. The ongoing homicide investigation has revealed a red Ford Falcon may have been involved.

At 7:15 pm, on Thursday 21st July, Sean and an associate went to Unity Park in Mornington to meet with someone and two other vehicles, including a red Ford Falcon arrived. One of the parties was unexpected and while the circumstances that followed are unclear, Police know that Sean left his vehicle on foot and ran towards Eglinton Road. The Ford Falcon has then left the parking lot and struck Sean moments later.

Members of the public have found Sean critically injured, have administered first aid and called emergency services, but unfortunately Sean passed away from his injuries.

Police recovered the red Falcon around 10 days after the crash and have obtained CCTV footage of the car on the day.

As part of the forensic examination of the vehicle, several items of interest were discovered and Police are pursuing many lines of inquiry and persons of interest. They encourage anyone that may have been involved or heard about the incident to come forward and speak with Police of their own accord.

Sean’s family and friends are hurting and want answers to the cause of Sean’s death. While the circumstances that led to Sean leaving his vehicle in the parking lot at Unity Park remain unclear, Police are focused on determining who was behind the wheel of the red Ford Falcon believed to have run Sean over.

If you were the driver, now is your opportunity to come forward and tell Police what happened.
