Arrest made in relation to missing Rawene woman

Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in relation to an historic assault on missing Rawene woman Barbara Moka.

The man will be appearing in the Kaikohe District Court on a charge of injuring with intent to injure.

The assault is alleged to have taken place earlier this year.

Barbara Moka was last seen in the early hours of Sunday January 9 and Police are continuing inquiries into her disappearance.

Yesterday Police boosted the inquiry team to 40 staff and now believe that foul play could have been involved in Barbara's disappearance.

Police are still keen to hear from anyone who was at a tangi at Te Piiti Marae, Omanaia that Barbara attended on the night of Saturday June 8.
