The Royal New Zealand Police College

The RNZPC located just outside of Wellington.Located in Porirua, Wellington, the RNZPC has a range of facilities on site to enhance the learning experience. ‘Scene of crime’ houses, a gymnasium, audio visual training simulators and a skid track for driver training are some of the facilities available.

Staff at the RNZPC are constantly developing and delivering training to meet the demands of new legislation and changes to the policing environment. Face-to-face training, such as the recruit course, is carried out at the RNZPC, but e-learning and blended learning approaches are increasingly part of our toolkit and help to deliver training to staff across the country and on deployments overseas.

The Dog Training Centre at Trentham, Upper Hutt, is part of the RNZPC. It delivers national training courses for dog handlers, the police dog breeding programme and the puppy development programme. The Dog Training Centre also trains staff in partner agencies that use enforcement and detector dogs.

The RNZPC aims to equip New Zealand Police staff with the skills they need to contribute to the Police vision, mission and objectives. We aim to provide quality education to the right people, at the right time, in the right way.
