1 min read

Police are treating the death of a teenager found on the Hutt riverbank this morning as “unexplained”, pending a post-mortem examination later today.

Members of the public reported finding the body, believed to be a male in his teens, about 7.55am today, near the riverside car park, Lower Hutt.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton of Lower Hutt Police said a pathologist was at the scene, and the body would be removed shortly to undergo a post mortem examination.

This would take place later this afternoon, with results expected to be available tomorrow morning.

Police were at this stage treating the death as unexplained, he said, while a scene examination was continuing.

Police had as yet not been able to identify the teen, whose body was found clothed, partially out of the water, near the east side of the Hutt River.
