Wairarapa Police CIB have launched an inquiry following the discovery of a local 70-year-old woman's body at a Featherston address.
Initial inquiries have revealed circumstances which are of concern to Police.
The woman was found this morning by a friend in her home after they were not able to make contact over several days.
The scene has now been secured with a detailed scene examination and post mortem to begin tomorrow morning.
Police will not be releasing further details until the next of kin can be informed.
