Alleged assault on Upper Hutt school principal

Today Hutt Valley Police based in Upper Hutt attended an assault complaint at St Josephs School in Pine Avenue, Upper Hutt.

A 39 year old Lower Hutt man has been arrested and charged with Injuring with intent to Injure.

He has been bailed to appear in the Upper Hutt District Court, sitting in Lower Hutt, on the 19th December 2012.

The charge relates to an alleged assault on the school Principal, who received moderate injuries and required medical attention for the injuries received.

Senior Sergeant Brent Murray of the Hutt Valley Police says "The investigation is still continuing and will be reassessed once completed to decide if any further charges will be laid."

As the matter is now before the Court, no further comment will be made by the Police.
