1 min read

The Kaye Stewart missing person case remains open and any new information received by Wellington Police will be investigated.

Today the Coroner has made a finding into her death and has found that Mrs Stewart died on or about 13 June 2005 in the Rimutaka Forest Park or surrounding area. Her cause of death is undetermined.

Detective Sergeant Mike Sears says "Our thoughts are with Mr Stewart and all of Mrs Stewart's family today as the uncertainty remains for them".

The inquiry into Mrs Stewart's death was a thorough and comprehensive investigation.

Police have maintained an open mind about the circumstances surrounding Mrs Stewart's disappearance and will follow up any new information received.

Police do not have any information that supports any given scenario over another in relation to Mrs Stewart's missing person's case.

A comprehensive review of the case was completed by a Detective Inspector in 2011 to determine if further lines of inquiry were available to the investigating team.

Presently there are no active lines of inquiry being followed by Police.

Detective Sergeant Mike Sears added "Professionally this has been a difficult inquiry spanning a number of years. Police are committed to resolving this matter and providing answers to the Stewart family".

Anyone with any information should contact Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000.

Information can also be provided anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
