Arrests over burglaries of motels and baches in Eastern BoP

Two people have been arrested following the burglaries of motels and holiday baches.

Police today executed a search warrant at a residential address in Whakatane.

Two females have been arrested and charged with a total of 10 burglaries of motels and holiday baches in Taupo, Ohakune, Rotorua, Whakatane, Ohope and Waihau Bay.

Both are in custody and are due to appear in the Whakatane District Court tomorrow, Saturday 27 August 2016.

The 10 burglaries were committed between February and August 2016.

In these burglaries the offenders stole a large amount of bedding, furniture, household appliances, food and cash. 

The stolen property is valued at approximately $10,000.

Some of the stolen property has been recovered by Police and enquiries are continuing.

“We want to sincerely thank members of the community who helped us to apprehend these active offenders and prevent further property loss,” says Detective Sergeant Darren Thomas.
