Counties Manukau Police are investigating a theft from a Cash In Transit van which occurred earlier this year.

On 23 January at around 2:40pm the van was parked outside the ANZ Bank in Manukau.  A man has approached the van and stolen a cash bag from the back.

The man has then run to a vehicle waiting nearby which was being driven by an accomplice.  This car, a late model Audi, was stolen from Mt Albert on 21 January and later located abandoned in Papatoetoe.

“CCTV in the area has captured images of one man who is considered to be a person of interest in this investigation,” says Detective Simon Potter of Counties Manukau Police.  “We are interested to hear from anyone who thinks they recognise this man or may have any information regarding this theft.”

The man is described as Polynesian and aged in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and of athletic build.  He was clean shaven with short hair and was wearing a cap, sunglasses and white t-shirt with shorts and running shoes.

The second man, the driver, is described as Caucasian in his mid to late 20s with a shaved head.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Simon Potter on 021 191 0648 or to provide information anonymously contact the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
