MEDIA ADVISORY: Police stepping out to support UN Road Safety Week 2015 – Media + photo opp

What

New Zealand Police are stepping out in support of United Nations Global Road Safety Week from 4-10 May, which will commence on Monday with a series of launch activities, including 'Giant Walk' events involving local schools in Wellington, Auckland and other centres.

The week is being coordinated by road safety charity Brake, with support from a range of other agencies.

 

Who

Police staff, including Assistant Commissioner Road Policing, Dave Cliff, will join local school children from Upper Hutt Primary School, and Counties Manukau Road Policing Manager Alison Brand will join kids from Rowandale School in Manurewa on Giant Walks to help launch the week.

Both AC Cliff and Insp. Brand will be available for media interviews.

 

Where & When

  • Auckland Giant Walk

            8.15am, Monday 4 May, Rowandale School, Avenue, Manurewa, Auckland.

            (Meet at Rowandale Reserve on Rowandale Ave to film/photograph the walk).

  • Wellington Giant Walk

            9.30am, Monday 4 May, Upper Hutt Primary School, Martin St, Wallaceville.

            (Children will assemble from 9.15am at the school and walk the block around the school).

 

Other Giant Walk launch events are also being held in Christchurch and Hastings.
