Police appeal for public to help identify Christchurch vandals

Canterbury Police investigations are ongoing after an act of vandalism at MP Gerry Brownlee’s Christchurch office at around 3.15am yesterday (1 February 2016).

Detective Inspector Greg Murton says two men were captured on CCTV breaking a window and pouring accelerant into a ground floor room.  “The two men are believed to have travelled to and from the scene on two motorcycles.  They appear to have approached the property heading south-west along Greers Road and have left the scene in the opposite direction heading north-east.”

A scene examination was completed yesterday (1 February 2016) and Police are working with Minister Brownlee’s office.

“The black and white CCTV images appear to show the two men wearing identical clothing including distinctive trainers.

Police urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at around 3.15am yesterday or recognises the two men in the CCTV images to contact the Metro Crime team at Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.
