Police investigating fatal stabbing in Christchurch

Canterbury Police are investigating the death of a man who was stabbed in Ashburton last night. 

Police were called to an address in McDonald Street, Netherby, at about 10.30pm on Tuesday 13 September, to reports that a 25-year-old man had died at the address as a result of stab wounds.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested and is to appear at Christchurch District Court. 

The name of the deceased will not be available for release until his extended whanau and family have been informed of his death.   Police will be at the McDonald Street address on Wednesday 14 September for a scene examination and to reassure the local community.
