Police investigating a series of overnight offences in New Plymouth

1 min read

New Plymouth CIB are investigating a series of offences which occurred in the lower Frankley Road area between 2am and 5:30am, Friday morning 4 December 2015.

There will be people in the community who know who is responsible for this offending and we urge them to speak to Police to prevent further victimisation and to ensure no one ends up being hurt.

When walking home in the early hours on Friday morning, a member of the public was confronted by a young male armed with a weapon.  The young male demanded property from the victim before running away with two others.

The male who confronted the victim is described as a teenager, of Maori ethnicity, slim build and about 5’6” to 5’7” tall.

In the hours prior to this a number of vehicles on Frankley Road, Maratahu Street and Clawton Street were interfered with and one vehicle was stolen.

Police have since located the stolen vehicle not far from where it was taken and enquiries are being made to return it to the owner.

This is an apt time to remind people to check the security around their homes and to ensure their vehicles are locked and their valuables are securely stored.  Together let’s make it difficult for those with dishonest intentions.

Police would appreciate anyone with information that will assist in solving these crimes to contact Detective Heath Karlson on (06) 759 5500 or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Media enquiries should be referred to Detective Sergeant Drew Bennett (06) 759 5500.
