On Sunday at around midday, a motorcyclist crashed into a barrier at the interchange of State Highway 1 and 2. The rider, 47 year old Lesley Peart of Alfriston, died in hospital during emergency surgery following the crash.

Inspector Richard Wilkie, Counties Manukau Road Policing Manager says two road fatalities in the District is a tragic way to start summer.

“Our thoughts are with these two families that have lost loved ones this weekend. It’s a timely reminder to all drivers to do everything they can to keep themselves and their loved ones safe on the roads.”
