Two offenders arrested in Palmerston North pursuit

1 min read

Police arrested a man and a woman today after a pursuit through Palmerston North streets ended in the vehicle crashing into a fence in Mahoe Street at about 12:50pm.

No one was injured in the crash.

The two male occupants of the vehicle fled on foot through properties on Mahoe Street, while the woman remained with the vehicle.

“Armed police cordons were set up around the area as it was believed one of the occupants that fled may have been in possession of a firearm” says Senior Sergeant Steven Crawford.

“A firearm and ammunition were later recovered from the vehicle."

The male and female that were arrested are both assisting police with enquiries.  The other man is still oustanding and police are continuing their investigation into his whereabouts.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation while police searched properties in the area.
