UPDATE: Stabbing in Mataura, Southland

Southland Police continue to investigation the stabbing of an elderly male in Mataura on Saturday night.

The victim, in his 70s, remains in a stable condition in Southland Hospital, after being stabbed at his flat following the offender demanding money from him.

Police are continuing to appeal for any information on anything noticed by people who were in the vicinity of Main St, Mataura, between around 9:30 and 10pm on Saturday night, June 17.

The offender is described as unshaven, approximately 5 foot 10 in height, and wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants.

We're keeping an open mind as to where the offender may have come from, and where he may have gone afterwards, so any information will be welcomed by the investigation team.
