Three arrests in relation to Kerikeri burglaries

1 min read

Police have arrested three young men following numerous burglaries in the Kerikeri region over the past couple of weeks.

The burglaries have been taking place in the early hours of the morning, often disturbing sleeping residents, causing further distress to victims.

A 17-year-old, 18-year-old and 19-year-old will appear at the Kaikohe District Court on Tuesday, each charged with five counts of burglary.

Further charges are likely and investigations are ongoing in respect to a fourth suspect.

Unfortunately most of the property is still outstanding, including personal documents, electronics and handbags, so Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen dumped belongings.

Kerikeri Police would like to thank the community for providing assistance with finding these alleged offenders and hope the arrests provide some reassurance to local residents.

As always, Police ask that you always report all instances of suspicious behaviour or crime. It helps Police to know who is in the community or if there is a pattern of crime developing in an area that needs further investigation.

Particularly in rural areas, Police urge precautionary measures to be taken by taking notice of who is out and about and talking to them (particularly if they aren’t locals), locking your house and keeping an eye on each other’s property. Further advice can be found here
