Interested in joining our PPS team?

New Zealand Police has people with different backgrounds, experiences and interests. What unites us is that we’re all working towards the same vision – we want to make New Zealand the safest country in the world.

We encourage applications from anyone who’s got what it takes, regardless of your gender, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, or faith. New Zealand’s diversity is growing, so bring your background and values to the job.

Above all else, you’ll want to help people in your community. You’ll need to make tough calls, practise resilience and will embody Police values both inside and outside of work.

Summer intern

How do students apply for the summer internship programme?

Each year, PPS will make contact with University Faculty or Schools of Law who market the opportunity to eligible students and vet applications. Applications are forwarded to PPS’s Professional Development team, who will further vet applications, match applicants to suitable locations and ensure security checks take place.

If you are interested in a summer internship and have not seen any marketing at your university (or have recently completed your law degree and would like to gain some work experience), contact PPS’s Professional Development manager by August: ppstraining@police.govt.nz.
