Narrative of the month - building positive values among students

July 2016

This month’s selected narrative describes how Police partnered with a school that had identified a lack of positive values in a number of students across the year groups.

Classroom behaviour had become harder to manage, low level stealing was occurring, and everyday challenges and problems were being dealt with by aggression.

Particularly notable in this narrative is how it started initially with the DP’s observations, but then developed into using hard data from the school’s student management system (SMS) to analyse the current behaviour and to set measurable goals for the intervention.

Also worthy of note are the carefully-considered ideas for future improvements, which look at how to increase the amount of student-led action in similar interventions.

This narrative can be found in the Narratives section of the School Portal.
