High performance car comes to grief in Hamilton

Rain and concrete walls- they're a dangerous combination, especially for out of control high performance motor vehicles warn Hamilton Police.

The driver of a 2007 Porsche 911 GT is recovering from moderate injuries in Waikato Hospital today follow a crash on Somerset St on Friday night.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection with Lake Rd about 7pm.

It is estimated the Porsche was being driven in excess of 100km/h when the driver lost control in the wet, hit the breaks and spun 360 degrees.

Mounting the footpath the car smashed through a concrete wall causing serious damage to both the structure and the car.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Waikato Hospital in a status two condition.

His pain doesn't end there- Police understand the vehicle had been sold and was due to be shipped overseas.
