Injury after Police shooting

1 min read

An armed man has been taken to hospital by ambulance after being shot by Police outside an address in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chevalier at about 1pm today. It's understood the man has an injury to his upper body.

Police were called to attend a Smale St address shortly after midday today by a person at a neighbouring property and, while waiting for the Armed Offender's Squad to attend, the man was shot by attending officers.

The scene and all weapons involved have been secured. Police Dog Section cleared the house the injured man came from and it's believed he was the only occupant of it at the time of the shooting.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has been notified of the incident and a full Police investigation is underway.
