Police seek help in bomb threat inquiry

1 min read

North Shore detectives are seeking public help to identify a man involved in a bomb threat inquiry.

Detective Steve Pivac, North Shore Policing Centre, said that at 7am today an adult male caller telephoned a Glenfield residential address advising the occupants that a bomb had been planted in their vehicle.

The call was made from a payphone in Birkenhead Avenue, Birkenhead, near the KFC outlet.

"We urgently want to hear from anyone who saw a male using the payphone around 7am," Detective Pivac said. "It's a busy time of day with commuters heading to work. We hope someone will have seen something that will help us identify the caller."

A car belonging to the person who received the call was examined but no device was found.

If you can help with information, please contact Detective Pivac at North Shore on telephone: 09 477 5000.
