An elderly man was dragged a short distance down Colombo Street last week and Police are keen to identify the car and the driver.

At 12.15pm (midday) last Wednesday 24 February on Colombo Street outside Ballantynes, the 82 year old was dragged by the driver of a white vehicle believed to be similar to a 1995- 96 Mazda Familia. He was dragged only about 2 metres but received minor cuts and abrasions to both his hands and legs. He was hospitalised over night and discharged the following day.

The driver is believed to be a male of 25-30 years old, fat build with shoulder length black hair pulled back. He has a tattoo and was wearing a white T shirt with a pattern on it.

A number of people have come forward but police are keen to speak to any witnesses and identify the driver and the vehicle.

Detective Constable Tim Cummings says that the photo shows a vehicle similar to that sought and the male is believed to be associated with the vehicle.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Timothy Cummins phone 3637462.
