Police Appeal For Witnesses to Motorway Fatality

Police are appealing to any motorists using the Southern Motorway early this morning, to contact them if they witnessed a man jump from the Reagan Road overbridge.

Constable Colin Nuttall of the Serious Crash Unit, says that about 3.30am this morning, Thursday 6 April 2006, a 19 years old Polynesian male, wearing blue shorts, a dark coloured Tee -shirt, and no footwear, was seen near the bridge.

"The man then climbed the rail on the northern side of the bridge. He jumped onto the left northbound lane. He died at the scene," said Constable Nuttall.

The deceased man is:

WILSON / Marlon Darius

DOB 18/08/1986 - aged 19 years.

Resident of South Auckland

"The Serious Crash Unit is investigating this fatality, and a post mortem examination is being carried out. The motorway was closed for several hours, but was reopened at 6.30am," Constable Nuttall said.
