Body found in dense bush

1 min read

Around 5pm last night (Wednesday, 12 May) police discovered a body in a rural location off of SH4 in Whanganui.

The scene was secured overnight and a full examination of the scene is being carried out today.

It is too early to say whether the body is that of Marice McGregor. It is accepted that this discovery may be linked to her disappearance, but Police need time to carry out some detailed work at the scene before recovering the body and going through the identification process.

The body is in a ravine area and the terrain around it is particularly difficult with dense bush and steep inclines, so this work may take anything between one and three days to complete.

The family of Marice McGregor have been advised of this information. They have requested privacy at this time.

There will be no further Police comment at this time.
