1 min read

Two men and a juvenile face a variety of serious charges, including kidnapping, following their arrest on the Hauraki Plains yesterday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton of the Hamilton CIB said the trio's arrest related to an incident in the suburb of Chartwell on Wednesday.

"Officers responding to a report of a burglary arrived to find that a group had gone to a Winstone Ave and attacked a car with a variety of weapons before assaulting the 24-year-old male living there.

"The man later required hospital treatment for his wounds but the group weren't finished there, they then broke into the home and took a 28-year-old woman with them against her will."

Mr Thornton said an intensive inquiry commenced to identify and locate those responsible resulting in search being carried out at a Kerepehi address yesterday.

"The woman was found safe and well along with her 44-year-old abductor and a 16 and 17-year-old males were also arrested.

The older man will appear in the Hamilton District Court today on kidnapping, wounding with intent and burglary charges while the younger members of the group face wounding and burglary charges," he said.
