1 min read

Whangärei Police have arrested the 35-year-old man they were looking for during a search warrant at a Kamo address this morning.

The Kamo CBD and surrounding residential streets were cordoned off during the incident while police appealed for the man to come out of the house.

About 9.30am, after tear gas and stun grenades were used to encourage the man to leave the address, the man was located inside the house.

He will appear in the Whangärei District Court today facing several serious drug charges, including selling and conspiracy to supply methamphetamine.

More than 30 staff took part in the search warrant, including AOS, in order to minimise the risk to staff and ensure public safety.

Police had spent a considerable amount of time planning the search warrant and as a result have had a successful outcome.

Note: a media conference will be held at 2.00pm Northland District Police Headquarters, Walton Plaza, 3 - 5 Albert Street, Whangärei.
