Suspicious fire under investigation

1 min read

Feilding Police are investigating a suspicious fire on Manchester Square, Feilding last night (Sunday, 3 April)

The fire at a hairdressers and beauty salon was first noticed at approximately 11.45pm by a member of the public passing the scene.

Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire but the building suffered significant internal damage.

A scene examination is currently being conducted by the Fire Service and Police.

This is the third significant suspicious fire in Feilding this year following two earlier fires at the Feilding Baptist Church in January and February. Although there is currently no evidence to suggest that the fires are linked police are investigating all possibilities.

Given that all fires have occurred during the period from late evening to early morning Police are asking the public to be particularly vigilant and report any behaviour they believe to be suspicious or 'out of place'.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Feilding Police on 06 323 6363. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
