Media Advisory - Stolen Vehicle Database

Media are invited to the launch of a new online database of stolen vehicles.

Police, in association with the Crime Prevention Partnership Forum (CPPF) will launch the database in Wellington tomorrow (Friday, December 2.)

The database will allow members of the public to query a registration number. With the option to also query VIN, engine and chassis numbers, the database will provide a number of different agencies, with a new, real-time tool to help prevent and resolve crime.

Deputy Commissioner Mike Bush will demonstrate the new database at a meeting of the CPPF tomorrow.
