Christchurch Police focus on address in missing teen enquiry

1 min read

Christchurch police are today conducting a forensic examination at a Linwood address in their ongoing enquiry into missing teen Hayden Miles.

Hayden was last seen in the Linwood area on Monday 22 August. Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says police interest in the Cashel Street property has been heightened by forensic work and other information gathered during the enquiry to date.

"We know this was the last address where Hayden was known to have been on the 22nd.

"Our enquiries so far indicate that some sort of incident has occurred at this address and we are now focusing on this location to get a better picture of what has happened here.

"We're not in a position to speculate about what has happened, and this enquiry is still very much a missing person investigation as Hayden has not been located.

Detective Senior Sergeant Hill says police forensic staff and ESR examiners are likely to be at the site for at least three days.

People living at the address, who are not known to Hayden, have been fully cooperative with police, he says, and alternative accommodation is being arranged for them.

Hayden's family has been briefed on the latest phase of the investigation, and Police family liaison staff are continuing to support the family.

Police continue to ask anyone with information about Hayden to come forward and contact them on (03) 3637400, or to provide information anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
