Farmer Cres homicide update

Statement from Detective Inspector Darrin Thomson of Lower Hutt Police:

Following the death of Michael Mulholland in Farmer Crescent, Taita, on Thursday night, ESR staff have finished assisting Police with the examination of the two scenes. Police will continue their own examination over the next two days.

Family are congregating in the area and paying their respect to Michael. No funeral date has been set as of yet. Police are working closely with the family to ensure the necessary support is in place to help them through the tragic circumstances of Michael's death.

Police believe a number of people visited Michael's home at 93 Farmer Crescent on Thursday 20 September 2012. The Operation Field team would like to speak with anyone who had contact with him at any time during that day as they may hold key pieces of information about what happened to Michael at about 10.00pm that evening.

No further updates are expected today.
