Incident at Panmure Wharf, Auckland.

At about 8.30pm last night a Mazda vehicle was driven off Panmure wharf into the water.

The vehicle very quickly became submerged.

Emergency services were called and arrived shortly thereafter. Upon arrival emergency services' staff attempted to locate the vehicle.

Police maritime unit was called and located the vehicle 20 metres from the wharf.

Police Dive Squad has been called and together with the maritime unit and emergency services will be attempting to recover the vehicle this morning.

Police will continue to investigate the cause of this incident.
