A post-mortem carried out on a young man found dead opposite a Ngaruawahia shop yesterday was completed in Hamilton today.

Detective Sergeant Mata John of the Ngaruawahia CIB said the death of Stevie James ORMOND, 16, had been referred to the Coroner.

"While not pre-empting the outcome of the Coronial investigation the post-mortem completed this morning revealed the 16-year-old died as a result of severe blood loss resulting from a cut to the Brachial Artery of his right arm, just below the Bicep."

Coroner Gordon Matenga has opened an inquiry into the circumstances of Mr Ormond's death.

"Following the examination of where Mr ORMOND'S body was found and damage to a window of the nearby fire station we believe the death was not suspicious and that his injuries were sustained from punching a glass window at the Fire Station."
