Overnight robbery in Whatawhata

1 min read

Hamilton Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward following the robbery of a petrol station on the city's outskirts overnight.

Constable Chris Wharton of the Hamilton CIB said the sole male attendant at the Whatawhata Gasoline Alley service station was attacked about 7.05pm.

"The attendant was moving items from the store to his car when he was approached from behind by a single male offender and punched to the ground and money was taken from him.

"Because the offender was disguised the only description we have is that he was a male, after attacking the victim he ran to a vehicle parked nearby in a service entrance and drove off," said Mr Wharton.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious around the service station, which sits at the intersection of Whatawhata and Horotiu Roads, or the service lane around the time or shortly before the robbery.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Mr Wharton at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 8586200.
