Police would like to hear from the owner of the dinghy

An inflatable dinghy has been located in Damons Bay, Akaroa and Police would like to hear from the owner.

The dingy was recovered by one of the local commercial dolphin-watching boats.

It is a yellow and blue Outdoorsman 300 inflatable, approximately 7ft in length.

There was a fresh barracuda fish in the boat which indicates that the dinghy may not have been in the area for too long.

The area where the dinghy was located is not easily accessible by road or foot so it is thought that it may have drifted to the location from further out to sea or around the coast.

There have been no reports of missing persons in the area today however, for reassurance, Police would still like to hear from anyone who owns this dinghy or believes they know who the owner is.

Any information should be shared with Senior Constable Tim Johnson of Akaroa Police on 03 363 7400.
