Attributable to Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk

Just after 3pm this afternoon, Alexandra Police and Fire staff were called to assist St John who were dealing with a medical event on the Graveyard Gully walking track, near Alexandra. The track runs down the side of the Clutha River.

A 74-year-old female had suffered a medical event while walking on the track, approximately 3km from Alexandra.

Given the difficult location, Coastguard were called to assist. They were able to take extra staff down to the area by river, and transport the patient and medical staff back to Alexandra.

The patient, a visitor to Alexandra, is receiving medical care. Her condition is not life-threatening.
