1 min read

Levin Police are urgently seeking information from the public after a family were robbed in the Township this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Peter Vine, of the Levin Police says: "At about 3pm today a male carrying a broken bottle and wearing a dark hooded top, light coloured long pants and sunglasses confronted and threatened a family who had just parked their campervan in the Levin Countdown car park."

"He demanded money and the couple who had two young children with them at the time, feared for their safety and handed over some of their belongings."

The male then fled to a nearby vehicle which was being driven by another person, possibly a female.

“Further description details of the offender and vehicle are being worked through with the victims but they are naturally distressed from the incident and it will take some time to get more information.

"We want to speak to anyone that witnessed this disgraceful incident and encourage them to contact police," says Detective Sergeant Vine.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Levin Police on (06) 366 0500. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
